The Armenian Genocide Museum and Institute in Yerevan has received a number of rare photographs for its collection depicting massacre scenes from Van, Yerzinga and Khnous.
The photos were uncovered in the personal effects of a Genocide survivor. Many photos include handwritten explanations by witnesses on the flip side.
It is thought that the photos seen here were taken by Russian military photographers and Armenian reporters during the Russian army’s advance into the eastern Ottoman Empire in 1915.
